A shooting took place on Saturday, August 28th in Spanaway, Washington.
A homeowner allegedly shot and killed Scott Howard, 52, a tile contractor who was working in the home.
According to an eyewitness account, Howard and homeowner Yoon Myong Bang, 73, had been bickering for a couple of days about the renovation work.
Order of events
- Homeowner (Bang) and contractor (Howard) get in argument over quality of work
- Bang refuses to pay for work and demands that Howard leave
- Howard threatens to destroy tile work if not paid
- Contractor retrieves hammer from truck, returns, and proceeds to strike vanity top
- Homeowner had armed himself with a handgun while Howard was at his truck.
- Bang threatens to shoot if Howard goes further
- Howard exits bathroom and walks past Yoon Bang. Yoon follows
- Shot fired
- Howard was seen lying on the floor with a shot to the head
First-Degree Murder
Pierce County Sheriff’s Department charged Yoon Myong Bang with first-degree murder and booked him into jail.
Bail was set for $1 million dollars but it may have been lowered to $500,000, according to a comment on Pierce County Sheriff’s Facebook page. This would mean that a bail bond could be acquired for $50,000.
First-degree murder indicates that there was premeditation involved.
Howard leaves behind three children and a domestic partner. Yoon Bang is married and his wife was in the backyard at the time of the shooting.
Additionally, there was another worker in the home during the incident that called 911.
