An anonymous street artist is making France a better place, one pothole at a time.
Based out of the nation’s second biggest city, Lyon, his name, or handle, is Ememem and he describes himself as a “bitumen mender, sidewalk poet and macadam surgeon.” [1]
That’s French talk for ’tiler of potholes.’
The ‘Surgeon of the Sidewalks’
Like England’s Banksy, he fiercely guards his identity and can only be contacted through an agent. However, it is rumored that his father was a tile installer (fixer) and that Ememem may be of Italian descent. [2]
He’s become so popular that he’s being ‘officially commissioned’ to perform this work for several civil projects. [3]
It’s always awkward when the rebel artist is accepted by the establishment.
You can see more of his work on his website or Instagram account.
